About Me

Hi, I’m Liz, and Beautiful Things are both my career and my passion.

I started this business on pure faith — a dream in my apartment living room. A lot of people doubted me in the beginning. They called it a hobby and said I would never make it. Well, here I am!

I began my journey as an insurance agent, painting for fun to relieve my stress from work. My goal was to open my own insurance agency and after ten years’ time launch Liz’s Beautiful Things. Well, I had a ten-year plan, but God had a bigger one! I started painting small pieces of furniture for fun, and realizing that I was pretty good at it, I started to sell the furniture on my online Etsy shop and tried out a few craft fairs. I sold out every time. Things started to pick up, and I got lots of clients. One day, I thought, “Maybe I don’t have to wait ten years for Liz’s Beautiful Things! Maybe I can do it now!”

I was at church one day, and my pastor was talking about how sometimes God asks us to do things but doesn’t tell us how. I felt like he was speaking directly to me, and I knew it was time to pursue my dream. So, I took the big step of handing in my two weeks’ notice at my insurance job! Choosing my dream over my guaranteed income was the scariest decision I’ve ever made in my life, but also the best one. I took the road less traveled. Now, I get to bring people happiness every day and inspire my customers to put their trust in God and pursue their dreams.

To honor my faith, I named my business after scripture. Ecclesiastes 3:11, “HE has made everything BEAUTIFUL in its time.” My logo is a butterfly to represent the metamorphosis of everything I make beautiful. I am so grateful every day for the opportunity God has given me, and the clients who invite me into their homes to bring beauty to the mundane.

If you can learn anything from my story and Liz’s Beautiful Things, it would be to put God first. When you trust in His plan, everything will fall into place. I hope that through my work, my classes, and my “Beautiful Things,” I can inspire you – just as I was inspired- to trust in God with all your heart.
